The End of the Dream -- Graphic Novel
This project began as happy accident while fooling around with filters on Photoshop. Using a very basic process of lighting and filtering I was able to take a photograph and have it appear like a hand drawn sketch. It instantly took on the look of gritty pulp comics and film noir. I thought I should try to use this to my advantage as an interesting story telling technique.
I decided to adapt a one-page short story I had written. The premise followed a hired killer on his last job. I initially story-boarded all the scenes as basic sketches and then with the help of Aryn Crowley (who acted as the victim), framed the shots I needed with a simple digital camera. I was then able to compose the images in Photoshop, layering the various elements (such as guns, brain matter etc) to create the individual panels.
Here are the first four pages...more to come.
